Schneider Electric, a global leader in energy technology, and Magnon, Spain’s leading company in renewable energy generation from agroforestry biomass, have announced the successful implementation of Schneider Electric’s EcoStruxure™ Advanced Process Control (APC) technology at Magnon’s renewable energy complex in Mérida. This achievement marks a milestone on the path toward a more efficient energy model.
Schneider Electric’s APC technology uses advanced mathematical models to predict the behavior of the renewable energy production process from forest and agricultural biomass in real time. The system can anticipate and correct deviations by automatically adjusting process variables to keep operations within optimal parameters, minimize fluctuations, and maximize efficiency.
Commitment to decarbonization
Thanks to this optimization, the plant has achieved a significant improvement in efficiency, representing a major step forward in Magnon’s sustainability goals and reinforcing its commitment to decarbonizing the energy sector.
This technology also supports Magnon’s strategy to reduce manual interventions and resource consumption, allowing managers at the Mérida renewable biomass energy complex to precisely control key variables for a more stable and efficient process operation.
“Biomass-based power generation is a key component in the transition toward a cleaner and more sustainable energy model. It reduces dependence on fossil fuels and greenhouse gas emissions while contributing to the circular economy and rural development,” explains Javier Figueras, VP of Industrial Automation at Schneider Electric Iberia.
“At Schneider Electric, we will continue to support Magnon with our expertise and leadership in the biomass sector, our comprehensive portfolio of solutions, and all the specialized technical support and guidance they need. Our goal is to be their trusted partner in energy technology and to ensure the success of every implementation,” Figueras concludes.
According to Guillermo Negro, CEO of Magnon: “At Magnon, we believe in the transformative power of biomass as a driver of decarbonization. Our activity converts agricultural and forestry residues into clean energy, creating stable jobs and value in rural areas. We are committed to local resources, reducing emissions, and strengthening the population in the territories where we operate.”
