La Loma Plant
Renewable energy from the heart of the olive groves
The La Loma plant, located in Villanueva del Arzobispo (Jaén), has an installed capacity of 16 MW and generates more than 90 GWh of renewable electricity per year, sufficient to supply nearly 30,000* households.
The facility holds SURE certification and specialises in the valorisation of Jaén’s olive groves, one of the most representative crops in Andalusia. It also valorizes firewood, prunings, leaves, and by-products of the olive oil production process, such as olive pomace.

Valorisation of orujillo and olive pruning
The plant converts local agricultural resources such as orujillo, which would otherwise lack sustainable valorisation, into energy. This model supports the circular economy of the olive oil sector and helps prevent the uncontrolled burning of residues in the countryside.
Socioeconomic impact in the province
The La Loma plant generates up to 390* stable and specialised jobs, considering direct, indirect and induced impact. Its value chain involves farmers, hauliers and local suppliers, stimulating the Jaén region.

Environmental commitment
The facility operates with clean combustion technologies and environmental control systems that minimise emissions. In addition, the biomass used meets sustainability and traceability criteria in line with European standards (SURE) and the Renewable Energy Directive.
A driver of just transition in rural Spain
The plant helps retain population and ensures that the energy transition translates into territorial development. It represents an example of how bioenergy can combine innovation, sustainability and rural roots.
